Have you ever dreamed of becoming a performer, or an actor, perhaps? Although Covid-19 has put most physical acting classes to a standstill, you don’t have to write off that dream just yet. Here are 6 performing arts classes and workshops that are conducted online so you can attend them from the comfort of your own home.

1. The Improv Company – ‘Improve for Everyone’ Online Taster Sessions

The Improv Company is one of Singapore’s biggest improvised theatre group which held numerous performances and classes pre-pandemic. But with Covid-19 in the picture, sessions and shows had to be put on hold until Singapore enters Phase 3. Thankfully, The Improv Company is still holding a limited of virtual taster sessions called ‘Improv for Everyone’ via their online channels for interested participants. The online sessions take place every third Saturday of the month via Zoom, making it a convenient session for busy gals and pals out there since it doesn’t require major commitment or experience. For 1.5 hours, you’ll explore the core principles behind improv and how to apply them in daily life.

2. Haque Centre of Acting & Creativity (HCAC) – Fundamentals Of Voice

Calling all bathroom singers – now’s the time to finally let your voice be heard! The Haque Centre of Acting & Creativity is conducting a 2-hour Zoom workshop called ‘Fundamentals Of Voice’, where you’ll learn proper breathing and how to release your authentic voice with confidence. Don’t worry if you have no experience; whether you’re an actor or non-actor, you’ll definitely gain something from this workshop.

3. LASALLE – Online Short Courses

Whether you’re a beginner or hobbyist interested in arts or design, you’ll find something you like with these Online Short Classes brought to you by LASALLE’s Continuing Education Programme team. Rest assured that you’ll be trained by well-qualified trainers and industry experts. The dates for the upcoming courses are as follows:

08 September 2020 – 01 October 2020

10 November 2020 – 03 December 2020

Courses follow the same total hours as the in-class Short Courses but are tailored to fit online platforms. This is also a good opportunity to make use of your Skills Future credit as you can use it to claim subsidies!

4. Maestros Flamenco Online – Spanish Dance

Perhaps acting and singing isn’t your cup of tea, and you’re someone who knows how to groove to the beat. Join Maestros Flamenco Online where they’ll teach you the codes, communication and improvisation of Flamenco – Spain’s most famous art form. Since the classes are online, you can tune in anytime at your own pace and even get unlimited access to their online video courses. By the end of the course, you can expect to dance to a full choreography – something you can show off to your buddies during that post-Covid gathering!

5. Sing’Theatre – The Power of Voice by Paul Carr

If you want to be the next Nathan Hartono, consider joining Sing’ Theatre’s ‘The Power of Voice by Paul Carr’, where you’ll get to know your voice and use it in an educational, professional, performance or even personal setting. If you love singing but have yet to discover your true voice, this online workshop will be worth a try! Fees: $349

6. Hitmaker Global Academy

The Hitmaker Learning Experience aims to revolutionize the creative industry by integrating the current music education study with practical real-time learning via the music and entertainment industry experts.
