LA Comedy Live is proud to announce, by overwhelming demand, RUSSELL PETERS brings his ALMOST FAMOUS WORLD TOUR back to Singapore for a “Special Return Engagement” on Monday, 15 February, 2016, 8:00 pm at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, Level 6, Hall 601-604.
“The Russell Peters Almost Famous World Tour” features same material as 2015’s dates plus MORE NEW MATERIAL since Russell’s last visit to Singapore, along with Peters’ lightning fast improv with the audience. “I like to interact with the front rows,” says Peters of his signature back and forth with the audience. “I use the interaction to take me from bit to bit. Some guys go on-stage with a script and don’t deviate from it. That’s not my style. I have my set and know what I want to cover; I just use the audience to move me in certain directions. It’s very collaborative and each show is unique.”
In 2012, the global comedy superstar set a new attendance record for the fastest selling and biggest comedy shows in Singapore’s history over 2 nights at the Singapore Indoor Stadium to an attendance of 18,000 fans. The success of these 2 shows still left many wanting more – so in 2013 Russell Peters performed a rare RETURN ENGAGEMENT of the Notorious World Tour.
In April 2015, the Canadian funnyman performed an unprecedented THREE SOLD OUT shows at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on his ALMOST FAMOUS WORLD TOUR.
Peters recently sold-out New York City’s Madison Square Garden as well as Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre. In February and March 2015 before coming to Singapore, Peters will take the tour to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, India and Sri Lanka. His last tour took Peters to 26 countries and over 200 performances, with over than 300,000 fans attending his shows globally.
Peters can currently be seen as a judge on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, alongside Roseanne Barr and Keenen Ivory Wayans. Peters can also be seen in Jon Favreau’s critically acclaimed movie, Chef.
The Almost Famous World Tour features Russell’s Official Tour DJ; New York City’s DJ Spinbad, as well as video cameras and screens for an up-close and intimate show in an arena setting.
Starting in 2008, Peters was one of the first stand-up comedians to self-finance, self-produce and distribute his own comedy specials and DVD’s, with Red, White and Brown and 2011’s, The Green Card Tour LIVE from the O2 Arena. The DVD’s went on to sell over 350,000 units across North America. His last special, Notorious was the first original comedy special for Netflix. Notorious was also supported by a four-part documentary series, Russell Peters Vs The World. Peters currently has over seven hours of content on Netflix.
Peters has given away more than a million dollars over the past several years to various charities, from the Brampton Civic Hospital, to Heart House Hospice, Gilda’s Club, the MS Society and a scholarship at his old high-school, The Russell Peters North Peel Scholarship to send a deserving student to college. The scholarship is now in its fifth year.
Listed on the Forbes List as one of the top ten Highest Earning Comics in the U.S. since 2009, Russell Peters has spent the past 25 years building a career to become one of the biggest comics in the world.
