Who Will Become Asia’s Next New Food Hero?

Aspiring TV hosts and food lovers will be pleased to know that the video-entry submission for Food Hero 2015, organised by popular food and lifestyle channels Asian Food Channel and Food Network, has been extended till 19 July 2015, 11.59pm.

Food Hero is an Asia-wide talent search to find exceptional home cooks and aspiring presenters good enough to be crowned as the new faces for the two channels. Interested participants can download the Food Hero application, which is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, where they can then upload video entries of themselves preparing and presenting a culinary dish or introducing their favourite dishes.

Five promising entries will be shortlisted based on their personality, on-screen appeal and their ability to create engaging and creative content. The shortlisted entries will participate in a series of online culinary and travel-themed challenges.

Four finalists will then be selected and flown to Singapore where they will compete against each other in challenges that will showcase their hosting and cooking abilities. The two winners will be announced in September 2015.

As of 24 June, there have been more than 7,000 downloads of the Food Hero application. Singapore stands as the country with the highest download rate on the IOS Platform for Food Hero (18.8%), followed by Malaysia (14.1%), the Philippines (13.7%) and Thailand (11.6%).

Food Hero 2015 is supported by Expedia, the leading online travel company. The four Food Hero finalists will be rewarded with travel vouchers (worth a total of USD$5,000) that might inspire them to experience different cultures and cuisines.
